We live in an increasingly delicate environment and are very aware that we all must contribute in a positive way to reducing damaging emissions.
Our decisions today, without doubt impact on generations to come. It is company policy to buy wise and plan minimal journeys in the following ways.
Use of tablets rather than sales contracts and delivery by paper documents. Engineers have the same tablets for all workshop and sites use.
Sorry postie, we refuse to deliver bills and all documents by post (other than legal) email is instant and saves cost and time. We ask suppliers for email correspondence and bills to us must be supplied this way.
Journeys – We operate a daily meeting with driver inclusion and agree the most economical way to deliver for clients and collect plant on the return journey with zero wasted miles. All transporters are latest available engine model, as such are cleared for use, to developing city centre standards such as London and elsewhere in the UK.
Travel – Only essential journeys for face to face meetings, (one benefit of the lockdown resulting from COVID 19) preferring to arrange face time with Microsoft Team View or Zoom technology.
Recycle – Separation of company waste, paper, plastic and metals all sent for recycling with contracted suppliers of the service. Minimise any waste to tip.
Disposal – Care taken with safe disposal of discarded office equipment, mobile phones, kitchen equipment,
Buying – We spent over £1.5M on the new stage 5 Deutz diesel engines for our hire fleet of big booms. These have zero carbon emissions and replace old fashioned, thirsty power designed 50 years ago which were high polluting.
Buying – We operate a fleet of 120 of 275 access platforms for hire using electric and hybrid technology.
Transport – We are now switching to HYBRID vehicle technology, planning to replace all cars and service vehicles as improved technology is developed.
We accept charges for and plan to revisit the environmental charge levy for clients contribution to the delivery of the billed item. Rejected in previous years by our valued clients but we believe now is the time to take another look at the fiscal contribution to save our planet.
We hope these steps show a sensible first approach to playing our part, yes it is a work in progresses as new issues and hopefully solutions develop we will refine our climate policy.
